The 10th anniversary For Moms Only Retreat has come and gone.

What a whirlwind!

We straggled in to Seattle on Thursday and Friday.  We assembled at 7 pm Friday.  Joe Foley assembled photos from past retreats and created a tape slide presentation followed by a ‘building’ exercise.

What creative moms we have!  With only toothpicks and marshmallows, with the addition of a few berries and vegetables,  they built a building - with a door, a decoration, and a little man.

It was an early night as we were needed to up early for our trip to Mt. St. Helens,  We were slowed by  a serious accident so we added a couple extra hours to the journey.

We stopped for breakfast at Denny's and were served by Kayla.  Our kids were making sure we were not in an accident!

We arrived at the mountain late but what a magnificent, magical place.  The setting epitomized our journey perfectly.  The mountain and area was devastated, as were we, but it is rebuilding and regenerating, as we are after our loss.  The mountain will have a hole in it forever, as will we.  We are indeed building our lives after loss.

The ceremony was held in front of the mountain.  A poem by an FMO mom, Yvonne Rhodes was read aloud.  We then said our angels’ names aloud.  Teri read the names of angels whose moms were unable to join us.  We then were led by Penny reading “A Litany of Remembrance” by Roland B. Gittelsohn.  We responded to each line with “We will remember you”.

Sunday we went our separate ways to explore Seattle and area.  We met for our Farewell Dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and compared notes.

Monday arrived far too soon as we headed back home again.

Next year Nashville!
